The minimally invasive lifting
Maintaining a youthful appearance on the face and neck, after the age of 45, is important nowadays for many people. This can be done, with the latest techniques of mini – lifting, which offers a significant aesthetic improvement for the face and neck, with an immediate and natural result. If there is moderate skin laxity on the face, but also on the neck, then these modern and very popular techniques (MACS and SMAS) are recommended.
The main difference between these techniques and other face lifting techniques is, that they are minimally invasive and are performed under local anaesthesia, in less time, requiring less downtime and offering more natural results.
The techniques of the MACS-lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension Lift) and SMAS-lift (Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System Lift) are the latest trend in lifting. The incisions are made alongside the ear sulcus, so they can be hidden post – operatively.
A second incision, behind the ear, may be necessary and the length of this incision depends, on how much skin laxity we have on the neck and it is performed in those cases, where a neck lift is also necessary.
The ideal candidates for these minimally invasive techniques, are men and women with moderate laxity and are 45y or older. The mini lifting offers a lifted, rejuvenated face, which under no circumstances, appears pulled back, if a certified, experienced surgeon, who appreciates and achieves natural results, performs the operation.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS
How long does the procedure take?
The duration depends on the severity of skin laxity and on the necessity to combine a face-lift with a neck-lift also. Approximately a full mini – lift takes 2 – 3 hours.
Is an overnight stay at the clinic required?
No, because in Derm & Plastic Surgery Clinic, we use the new minimally invasive, lifting methods, which are performed only under local anaesthesia and are much safer. This allows the patient to return home, without having to remain for an overnight stay at the clinic.
When can I return to my daily activities?
The first days after the operation you should relax at home, gently massaging and hydrating the face, with the provided by the clinic, rejuvenating products. Also, applying cool compresses for 2 – 3 days will help the swelling to subside quicker.
After the operation, if any pain is experienced, usually is very mild and is easily controlled with painkillers, like paracetamol. Sutures are removed, at the end of the first week. The face will have a rejuvenated appearance, in an average of 7 – 10 days after the operation and the patients can then return to their daily activities.
How long does the result last?
The results last for an average of 8 – 10 years. However, the patients age, the skin quality before the operation, as well as the maintenance treatments, with the combination of other non – invasive, anti – ageing treatments afterwards, will play an important role.
In general, skin quality is better in younger ages, this is why the results of this operation, for patients between 45 – 55 years of age, tend to last 3 – 5 years longer. What is certain is, that a person who has mini lifting, turns the clock 10 years back and their ageing will be much slower, compared to those who don’t undergo the operation.
Which are the possible complications?
Possible complications include haematoma, temporary hyposensitivity and numbness in the area. These complications are easily treated and subside gradually, but they can happen and a patient must be informed and must have discussed these with the surgeon, in advance.
